What's in the brain that ink may character?

I’m female and twenty, and not quite okay with being so very ancient.

In the spring of 2004, I graduated from a public high school that mostly sucked; now I’m in my third year in NYU's College of Arts and Science, which mostly doesn’t. I’m majoring in English, double-majoring in Medieval & Renaissance Studies, minoring in Irish Studies, and possibly double-minoring in Music. This is my second year in CHOICES housing, since I’m not interested in drinking, smoking, or doing drugs; my freshman year, I roomed with ren12.

I’m interested in theater; past roles include Chiffon/Ronnette in my Little Shop of Horrors; Ethel McCormack in Footloose; and Laurie, an abused wife, in a student-written drama, Numb. Other shows and musicals I’ve been in at various times include Zombie Prom, Story Theater, Godspell, Annie, All in the Timing, The Compleat Wks. of Wm. Shkspr Abridged, As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and various coffeehouses and cabaret nights.

During high school, I also worked as copyeditor/editor of my school’s student-run newspaper, the Hawk Headlines. By the end, I really didn’t like big-J Journalism anymore, and now I’m sure I’m not going into little-j journalism either. (See my journalism icon.) Alas, due to their exorbitant salaries (...or not), I went over to the dark side again and, during my sophomore year in college, worked for the Washington Square News as a copyeditor. There were, alas, ideological differences; I now do digital image-editing on a freelance basis.

In my free time -- scarce now that I’m in college -- I play the piano, fool around with various stuff online, and knit scarves. I also use this time to look around in Bobst’s stacks, in hopes of finding new books about Shakespeare or Marlowe, or something equally interesting (well, to me).

I am a 1337 h4><0r on Adobe PageMaker (as a result of journalism) and almost worthless at making Art on Adobe Photoshop (as a result of no native talent). I'm pretty good at using Photoshop to, say, change the color of your shirt, remove scratches and speckles, and do other stuff like that -- but that's no fun. In the name of working on my graphic design skillz (ahahaha) I’ll even make you icons -- um, if you want them. I try hard, anyway.

Speaking of graphic design, I am obsessed with fonts, specifically full-family serifs -- you know, the expensive kind. I am also big on the proper use of em- and en-dashes, and smart quotes. Mmm.

For awhile, I was writing a Great and T00by Novel about Shakespeare. Well, and Marlowe, and Wriothesley, and very tangentially and sort of the Dark Lady, who isn’t any of the usual suspects. Um, I like it. Yeah.
